Parking etiquette and unlicensed vehicles

The link to the parking etiquette document can be found in the mews main page and below (you may need to cut and paste it into a new browser window): http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=dh8tkzm_15ghq4tcfc All lessees on the above list have purchased an allocated parking space for their exclusive use as detailed in their land registry documents and lease. Additionally, please be aware that if your vehicle licence status is "Unlicensed" then you are in breach of your lease. If your vehicle is off the road then please ensure that you do have a SORN or your vehicle license status will show as "Unlicensed". You can easily enquire on a vehicles license status at the following DVLC link. After clicking on the link you will need to click on the "Vehicle Enquiry" tab on the left and enter the registration and make of the vehicle. http://www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/index.jsp Unfortunately we have a few residents who do not have a right to park bringing in vehicles into the mews persistently and inconveniencing a number of others. And because of this it was decided at the general meeting held on the 29th of June 2009 that all parking bays will be clearly marked the cost of which will be borne by all lessees. The signs warning that we have a tow away scheme in operation were put up on the 28th of August 2009 and this now gives us the right to remove illegally parked vehicles. Please be aware that GMM will remove unlicensed and any vehicles not parked in their allocated parking bay with immediate effect and no notice.
Going forward the process for having illegally parked vehicles removed from Gateway Mews is as follows:
  1. Either the lessee of a parking space informs GMM that their parking space is being used without permission or there is a vehicle parked illegally in the mews
  2. GMM try and find the owner of the vehicle via email or by leaving a note (where possible)
  3. If there is no response from the vehicle owner in a timely manner then GMM attach a tow away sticker and inform PMMS
  4. PMMS inform an external contractor who removes the vehicle and places it's details in a police register
  5. The owner of the vehicle contacts the police to find out more information of how they recover the vehicle
The above steps may change without any notice and the best way to avoid being towed away is to adhere to the terms of your lease. Please note that GMM are not responsible or liable for the vehicle in any way whatsoever.
Finally, parking issues in the mews have in the past always got very heated. Please be constructive in any posts made below. You can post anonymously without having to log on but please remember the following posting rules:
  1. Identify yourself by stating your name and where you live for the benefit of those who don't know you
  2. The post should be relevant to the blog (e.g. don't post parking issues in the Security issues blog etc.)
Any unidentified or off-topic comments will be deleted promptly.

    Hi Kate,

This is to confirm that I have agreed to rent out my parking space to you for the period of one year starting from 1 August 2009.

I am copying Gateway Mews Managment so that they are fully aware of our arrangement.

    Regards,

    Simon Lewis

  2. With regard to the current plan to identify spaces with painted letters, why not paint on the relevant flat/house numbers instead? It would be a lot clearer for residents and visitors, as it would immediately let drivers know where they can and can't park without the need for a supplementary chart.

  3. Dear Directors.

Agree Will, numbers would be more useful.

    Also,
I thought that bay ‘R’ was the second Newlon space? Can you let us know why it’s proposed that it is to be painted ‘Freeholder’?

    Many thanks.

  4. Will, Matt.

The reason for the numbering system is:
    1) spaces can change hands
    2) Security

  5. Hi Matt (23),
NEWLON as far as I know don't owe any spaces but originally had an agreement with the freeholder to use the two spaces marked 'L' and 'R'. The right to park on one of these was given up by NEWLON in exchange for the end house (21) having the right to park a vehicle outside their residence. This is why one of the original NEWLON spaces is now marked as belonging to the freeholder in the plan.

  6. Further to my last post anyone has the right to park in the space that belongs to the freeholder.
If this changes we will update the map accordingly.

  7. Yes. Unless Urbanpoint/Freeholder advise us otherwise anyone can park in the freeholders space. Currently it is occupied by an untaxed vehicle that belongs to No. 20.
